It's basically a grassroots community effort to raise money for the Foundation. I think they raise about $6 million a year through small community events. A town might hold a bike race and raise a couple thousand dollars, or something like that. This is basically the same thing, we're just taking it a step further.

The thoughts and prayers of the entire Christopher Reeve Foundation team are with Dana and her loved ones during this difficult time, ... We are certain that Dana will tackle this challenge with the grace, courage and determination that have become her hallmark.

It is impossible to put into words the quiet strength and incredible courage Dana Reeve demonstrated in the way she lived her life. With Chris, she gave voice to a movement to find life-saving cures and promote medical research, and when she lost her inspiration and love she didnt stop the fight. Only days after Chris death she continued to give hope to millions of Americans. She was an inspiration to me and to us all. Chris was Americas superhero, and Dana became our hero, too.
