It's a very important issue and what we are doing today is sending all the wrong signals into the society and into the culture. We're saying let's be selective in this process and let's not let certain groups of people here, and yet once they get here, we're saying we should protect them.

Such (impeachment) hearings will surely take a heavy toll on the function of our government, on the trust invested in our civic institutions and on the American people themselves,

It is time for the government of China to stop holding innocent religious figures in captivity merely for peacefully protesting China's occupation of Tibet.
