We had such a successful convention in 2000, we knew Philadelphia could handle it.

We couldn't go down 0-2 playing at home. We haven't had a lot of success on the West Coast, so we've got to find a way to win some games.

Mike brings a tremendous amount of energy and success to our program. His ability to recruit, play a demanding schedule and his style of play have proven to be a winning formula that I know our fans will appreciate and support.

If I had to select one quality, one personal characteristic that I regard as being most highly correlated with success, whatever the field, I would pick the trait of persistence. Determination. The will to endure to the end, to get knocked down seventy times and get up off the floor saying, ''Here comes number seventy-one!''
